Tom Johnston, Director of Global Clients Technology with A.P. Moller - Maersk, has been named 2018 Person of the Year by The Transportation Club of Seattle (TCS), a nonprofit organization.
The TCS Person of the Year award honors an individual who has made extraordinary efforts, impact and contributions to the local transportation field and community.
After graduating from Penn State University, Tom started his career in transportation in 1986.Working for a great company like Maersk, and its sister companies, for the past 33 years, Tom has been able to find many opportunities for growth and advancement.Tom has worked in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and for the past 15 years in Seattle.Most recently, Tom was named Director, Global Clients Technology.Tom is married (Stefanie) and has three children (Natalie, Matthew and Miles). Tom has been a long-standing member of the Transportation Club of Seattle and served as a board member until 2019. He has been instrumental in leading the Speaker Committee which has been responsible for bringing in C-Level speakers to share their insights with the club. His outreach and promotion of the club are well respected and have elevated the quality of content and community outreach. The Transportation Club of Seattle has been at the center of the Seattle area transportation community for over 108 years. Founded in 1910, the club was formed to encourage the study by members of transportation issues; promote closer business relationships; promote the welfare of its membership as well as to sponsor educational programs and discussions pertaining to traffic and transportation matters. The club holds monthly lunch and learn meetings throughout the year, provides an annual golf tournament and supports the Salvation Army through its annual holiday auction.
