U.S. Orthopaedic Partners (“USOP”), a rapidly-expanding network of private orthopaedic practices in the Southeastern United States, is pleased to announce the accomplishment of one of its regional partners – The Surgery Center at Mississippi Sports Medicine. The ambulatory surgery center (ASC) has successfully achieved its Advanced Orthopaedic and Spine Certification through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and is the only ASC in Mississippi and Alabama with the accreditation. The Advanced Certification highlights the unique and comprehensive orthopedic care platform that USOP has created in the region.
The specialty certification is based on a three-year evaluation period that considers overall quality, patient outcomes, ongoing compliance and continuous quality improvement programs. The certification recognizes the use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, ongoing strategies for enhancing performance, and maintaining an infrastructure that supports safe and effective care. Ambulatory health care organizations seeking AAAHC Advanced Orthopaedic Certification undergo an extensive self-assessment and rigorous onsite survey by AAAHC expert surveyors. These experts include physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in orthopaedic care. The survey is peer-based and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services. Madison Surgery Center is currently the only ambulatory surgical center of its kind to hold the Advanced Certification, which it first earned in (2020).

The Surgery Center is a AAAHC accredited, single-specialty outpatient surgery center developed by Mississippi Sports Medicine surgeons in response to the growing ambulatory procedure needs of their community.
