UPGRADES TO THREE ATHLETIC FIELDS UNDERWAY AT CREEKVIEW HIGH SCHOOL

CARROLLTON, TX (May 6, 2020) – When Creekview High School’s students return to campus, they will enjoy major renovations to their athletic facilities. Hellas Construction, based in Austin, is currently onsite building three new synthetic turf fields for the Creekview Mustangs. The student athletes will have a new softball field, baseball field, and a combination soccer and football field to play on.

The Creekview project is part of a larger investment by Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District in athletic facilities district-wide. Hellas is also currently upgrading athletic facilities at Ranchview, R.L. Turner, and Newman Smith High Schools.

“Through this investment, CFBISD is creating a home field experience on campus for students throughout the District,” said Dr. John Chapman III, CFBISD’s Superintendent.

Renee Putter, Athletic Director for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, said, “We wanted to invest in our student athletes. This multi-campus project will enable each school to cultivate a school spirit and deliver a home field advantage to virtually every student in the District.”

Students and academic athletes participating in a range of school-sponsored and extracurricular activities will enjoy use of the new fields. The upgrades will touch Cheerleaders, Yell Leaders, Track and Field, Cross Country, PE, Band, and ROTC, in addition to Softball, Baseball, Soccer, and Football players.

Vincent Jovel, Head Boys Soccer Coach, said, “We will have one of the best fields in the state.”

For the Creekview High School football/soccer field, Hellas Construction will build and install the Matrix Helix™ synthetic turf system, which is also used by the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. This turf system is also used by the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, and Jacksonville Jaguars and will soon be used by the Raiders, Chargers, and Rams. CFBISD also elected to install Cushdrain® under the field, a paved-in-place pad that provides an extra layer of player protection for students.

“This new field will really bring our team together,” reflected Shannon Moroney, Head Girls Soccer Coach.

The baseball and softball fields will receive the Major Play® synthetic turf system. The school’s D-Zones will be surfaced with both synthetic turf and epiQ Tracks® materials. All three fields at Creekview High School will feature the Mustangs logo and school colors.

“Getting to play on a brand new synthetic field will enable more practice and play time, and we couldn’t be more excited,” stated Amber Cottingham, Creekview’s Softball Coach.

“The new field will provide great hops and create a lot of team spirit,” said Creekview’s Head Baseball Coach Blake Koch.

The soccer and football field is slated for completion by the first week in July, and the baseball and softball fields will both be finished by the end of September.

Jay Cline, Creekview High School’s Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator, said, “The kids are going to benefit so much from the work that is going on at Creekview. These fields will give them a safe place to play, and it will really add to the student experience.”
