URBAN RECOVERY ANNOUNCES LIPI ROY M.D. AS DIRECTOR OF ADDICTION MEDICINE AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TO EXISTING ALL-STAR LINEUP OF THE TOP ADDICTION PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD

09/12/2019 21:00 - Brooklyn - NY - (PR Distribution™)

Urban Recovery, a full-service, inpatient addiction treatment services provider, announced the addition of world-renowned addiction medicine physician, Lipi Roy, MD, MPH, FASAM, as medical director to their all-star lineup of clinical staff.  Dr. Roy will serve as director of addiction medicine and community engagement for the Brooklyn-based residential treatment provider which opened in early 2019.  In her newly appointed position, her duties will include oversight of the detox unit and medical oversight of all addiction treatment protocols.

“Dr. Roy is a well-known and respected leader in addiction medicine and her innovative approach combined with her charisma with patients, staff and as a public speaker is exactly the right addition to our growing staff,” said Denise Bertin-Epp, CEO and Founder of Urban Recovery.  “We have been laser-focused on providing excellent clinical care here, which means assembling the virtual Who’s Who of addiction treatment on one team to lead our national conversation.”

The 2016 United States Surgeon General’s Report on Alcohol, Drugs and Health found that there are multiple pathways to recovery that include a number of evidence-based treatment methods.  It further explained that the success of a patient’s treatment outcome relies on matching the individual’s unique diagnosis including the severity, type, progression and intensity of their addiction with a treatment plan that supports their unique circumstances and personality traits, while carefully assessing any co-occurring conditions such as depression, anxiety or undiagnosed mental illness. In building Urban Recovery, founder Denise Bertin-Epp aimed to achieve unparalleled excellence in the quality of care uniquely developed for a specific patient.  Urban Recovery treats acute addiction with a clinical construct designed for decision makers, leaders, business executives and others who are high level achievers and have a selection of treatment providers. Urban Recovery designs treatment plans for these individuals and their families that take into account some of the unique traits endemic to their profession and circumstances such as being responsible for running an entire company or living with a high public profile and unusually high public scrutiny.

Dr. Roy is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medical in New Orleans and completed her residency in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and frequently lectures on all health-related topics, particularly addiction, nutrition and mindfulness.

“I am thrilled to join the team at Urban Recovery and further refine their development of a clinical approach that is tailored to each specific patient,” said Dr. Roy. “One thing that is crucial to any physician’s understanding of addiction is that treatment is rarely ‘one-size fits all.’ Each patient has unique psychosocial and genetic backgrounds which affect their pathology. Treatment approaches need to be both evidence-based but also customized to the unique needs of every individual patient. Urban Recovery is based on that precise philosophy.”

Dr. Roy will join a clinical faculty at Urban Recovery that also includes:

  • Dr. Kimberly Mallin, Medical Director
  • Dr. Charles Perkel, Chief of Psychiatry
  • Dr. Bruce Singer, Chief Clinical Officer
  • Dr. Paul Hokemeyer, Senior Clinical Fellow
  • Dr. Amanda Lefkowitz, Psychiatrist
